Downtown Concord and the North Union Street historic district are where the city's oldest trees stand: willow oaks, white oaks and southern magnolias planted in the 1890s–1920s along Union, Spring, Grove and Georgia Streets, in Gibson Village and Logan, and around the courthouse. Who owns the tree between the sidewalk and the street?

The City of Concord, on most downtown streets. Chapter 50 of the city code governs public trees, and pruning or removing one needs the city's permission. Trees inside your property line are yours. We know which is which and handle the permit.

Can a 100-year-old willow oak be saved?
