Will my homeowners insurance pay for storm tree removal?
Usually, when the tree hits a covered structure — house, garage, fence, deck. Most North Carolina policies pay to remove the tree from the structure and repair the damage, subject to your deductible, and many cap debris removal at $500 to $1,000 per tree if it fell on nothing. The tree is on a power line. Who do I call first?
The utility. Inside the Concord Electric Systems territory that's the city (704-920-5320, or 704-920-5555 after hours); elsewhere it's Duke Energy. No tree crew should cut within ten feet of an energized line. Call us at the same time and we'll be staged to start the moment the line is de-energized or cleared.
How fast can you get here?
During a normal week, the same day. After a county-wide event like Helene we work a priority list — anything on a roof or blocking a driveway first, hangers over walkways next, trees down in the yard after. We'll give you an honest window when you call.
My neighbor's tree fell on my house. Whose problem is it?
In North Carolina it's normally your policy that pays, even though it was their tree — unless you can show they knew the tree was dead or hazardous and ignored it. That's one reason to get an arborist's letter on a dead tree next door before the storm, not after.
Can you tarp the roof?
We'll get the tree off and, if you ask, put a temporary tarp over the hole so the next rain stays outside. A roofer handles the permanent repair.
